Buying a computer? There are always plenty of offers in the shops. Dixons, PC World, Tiny and others constantly advertise special deals of one sort and another. After a lot of research, we’ve found that the best deals are often to be found from small computer makers. There are several advantages to be had from these.

Why Use a Small Dealer?

All PCs are made from the same parts. A known brand doesn’t have ‘better’ components than a small manufacturer’s.

Personal service.

You can get exactly what you want, without a bundle of ‘freebies’ – cheap software/ scanner/ printer etc., that won’t be what you actually want. A small manufacturer may well build a machine to your precise specification.

Warranty.

Check exactly what you will get when something goes wrong. Dealing with a large organisation can be surprisingly complicated, whereas a local dealer should be able to sort things out quickly and simply. Find out the dealer’s terms. You will be contacting on a local number, not one of the £ per minute keep you hanging as long as possible.

Keen prices.

It’s a very competitive market out there: small dealers may have much lower overheads to deal with.
